How private speech therapy works

I will be available to take on new clients from August 2021. You can make an initial enquiry by phone, WhatsApp or email.

I will get back to you for a no obligation discussion to understand your child’s speech and language needs and your concerns.

Following this, if you choose to book an initial assessment for your child, I will agree an appropriate time to assess your child either at home, at preschool or at school. Please note for face to face appointments I am only able to see clients who live or attend school in the following areas:

  • Fareham
  • Stubbington
  • Lee-on-Solent
  • Gosport
  • Portchester
  • Titchfield
  • Funtley
  • Boarhunt
  • Park Gate
  • Warsash
  • Sarisbury Green
  • Locks Heath
  • Whiteley
  • Swanwick
  • Burridge

Initial assessment appointment (standard)  – £200

This assessment includes a 30 minute telephone or video call to take a case history to gain background knowledge of your child’s development. This will happen prior to the appointment so that we can discuss your concerns without doing it in front of your child.  This is followed by a 60 minute face to face appointment at your home or your child’s education setting to assess your child’s needs. After the assessment I will discuss my findings with you and write a report based on my observations.

If appropriate I will recommend a course of therapy and we will agree the most appropriate frequency for your child and your circumstances.

This type of assessment is generally suitable for children with speech sound difficulties, early language delay or who stammer.

Therapy session – £85 per session

Therapy sessions include 45 minutes of direct therapy with your child and discussion/feedback to parents and other professionals e.g. class teacher.

I set targets for your child following the first therapy session and regularly review and update these so we can track progress and adjust the frequency of therapy sessions as needed.

Between sessions

You work with your child using activities and resources I give you, this will support your child to generalise the skills they have learnt in therapy sessions to everyday life.

You can contact me by phone or by email if you need advice between appointments.

If your child is in school I will provide verbal or written feedback to your child’s teacher after each session, along with any resources required.

If your child is also seeing an NHS therapist, I liaise with them regularly to ensure joined-up working. I can also liaise with other professionals your child may be seeing such as physio, OT or the Portage home visiting service.
